Since the Fund was established following the death of Hasse Halley in 2011, we have awarded more than $34,000 in scholarships to 23 Woodstock Union High School students. In August, we awarded two $2,500 scholarships to Mia Zilian and Jacob Legayada. None of this would have been possible without your generosity and support. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us honor Hasse's memory and, following Steve's passing in 2017, Steve's as well.

 

Hasse and Steve cared deeply about education and believed strongly in building communities that are connected, compassionate, and resilient. Through your contributions, you have helped carry those values forward and create opportunities for young people. You have also helped keep their memories alive and, as we say in our tradition, helped to lift them up higher.

 

After much thoughtful discussion and reflection, the Halley Memorial Fund Board has decided to conclude the Fund's operations as a nonprofit organization. While this chapter is coming to a close, we are grateful that there are still many ways to honor Hasse and Steve's legacy. If you wish to continue supporting students, we encourage you to consider donating to the Woodstock Union High School general scholarship fund, benefiting students at the school where Hasse taught and in the community that Hasse and Steve called home during the later years of their lives.

 

We also hope you will honor their memories in other ways that reflect the lives they lived so fully: by supporting scholarship programs in your own community, by preparing and serving meals to those in need, as they did countless times, by spontaneously dancing when a favorite song comes on, and by sharing long, heartfelt hugs with those you love.

 

Your involvement in the Halley Memorial Fund has meant more than we can express. Thank you for your generosity, your kindness, your memories, and your partnership in celebrating the lives and values of Hasse and Steve.
